If your life centers around the creation of new things, be it ideas, writings, explanations, scientific papers or even art, just consuming videos, books and blogposts isn't enough. You need to remember what you have seen and form it into something new. That's where the Incremental Method comes in:

  1. Consume what is important
  2. Distill into concepts, ideas and facts
  3. Remember them
  4. Combine into something new

All with ease in the new AnyType extension Næxt.one.

Ok, that might have been to much at once. What is this Incremental Method? Who is this for? And what even is AnyType?

First, are you reading books in one go, cramming your studies in the night before, passivly watching tutorials without breaks, preparing your talk for the next conference hecticly on the plane, talking to someone for hours and then forgetting to catch up with them later?

This is the Intense Method. And while it can be fun and adventurous and blissful, research shows its not really sustainable. You will forget what you consume. It's living in the moment, but only for the moment. Now, what if instead you could cooperate with your future self?

This is what Incremental is all about. It just means piece by piece, small things at a time, over a long time. With this method you can read 100s of books at the same time (yes! we are not exaggerating), write and publish polished content from blogposts to papers in days, not months, create beautiful pieces of art and even bring all your friendships to a deeper level.

How? You space stuff out. You interleave it. You read a chapter, review a flashcard, brainstorm an idea, text a friend, draw a small painting, schedule a call with an editor ... and then read a chapter of another book. And so on. Sounds chaotic? Yes! But luckily you don't plan any of that! This is what Næxt.one is here for.

But first a word about AnyType, the software this is all build on top.

AnyType is beautiful. We love it. What is it? A notetaking app. Wow, how anticlimactic, we know. Aren't there a million of these?

Yes, but none can make possible what AnyType does.

AnyType is build around Objects and Relations. Think of Objects just like ... well things. Stuff. Videos, Books, People, Notes, Art pieces, Tasks, Rocket ships. Relationships are how these objects are connected. Walter Isaacson (Object 1, Type: Author) is writing (relation) a biography (object 2, Type: Book) about Elon Musk (Object 3, Type: Crazy Person) building the Starship (Object 4, Type: Rocket). That's it. Elegant, simple and incredibly powerful.

Now all Næxt.one is doing with **AnyType is adding a sophisticated algorithm to show you your next object. You do the work of building your digital brain. And we help you navigate it. Digital Brain? Well, you can't actually import rocket ships into AnyType, - give them a break, they are still in Beta - so right now you have to build a digital representation of it, pictures, facts you want to remember, thoughts and ideas you have about it, a draft of a love letter for it you might want to publish. That's your digital brain, your second one.

How are we helping you navigate it? We are using an algorithm called SuperMemo 18 by Peter Wozniak. If you never heard these words, you might say: who cares. If you know them you are going crazy right now. Peter Wozniak is the OG, he came up with the idea of Incrementalism, back in the 80s! We are very fortunate that we can bring his work to a wider audience and deliver on a modern, collaborative version of his SuperMemo vision.

Did we say collaborative?

Yes! Of course everything in AnyType is super easily shareable! You can invite your friends and colleagues to parts of your objects, publish to the web, export into many filetypes, even Latex is supported for our fellow researchers.

Other reasons why we build it as an extension of AnyType and not as a standalone product:
